It may be the first day of September but summer is still going on strong in California, and there’s nothing like an ice cold refreshing cocktail on a hot night. I’ve seen variations of this drink at bars, and I love them because it’s not too sweet and there’s a nice kick to it from the jalapeños. It’s also super easy to make and customize to your own liking. To make it even easier, you can buy premade margarita mixes with tequila already in them! I like the one by Jose Cuervo, but you can use any mix you like.
Makes 4 cocktails
Ingredients:
2 jalapeños, sliced
2 limes, juiced
1/2 cup tequila
1/2 cup triple sec
2 cups sparkling limeade (you could also use lime juice, but I’m too lazy to squeeze that much)
1 cup ice cubes
- Muddle the jalapeños and lime juice in a glass or bowl. Let sit for at least 30 minutes.
- In a pitcher, add ice, tequila, triple sec, sparkling limeade, and stir. Or skip this and use 3 cups of your premade margarita mix.
- Add the muddled mixture to the pitcher and stir.
- Pour into four glasses rimmed with salt. Garnish with lime wedges and enjoy!
Optional:
You can easily turn this into a beerita by adding your favorite light beer! The beer will also make the drink less sweet, which I highly recommend if you are using the premade mixes.
